Tahnee Norris has been re-appointed as the coach of the Papua New Guinea Orchids for the upcoming 2026 World Cup.

This decision follows her successful tenure with the Queensland Origin team, where she celebrated an 18-14 victory against New South Wales, avoiding a series whitewash.

Norris first assumed the role of Orchids coach during last year's Pacific Cup, competing against Australia and New Zealand.

Although the Orchids faced setbacks, including relegation to the Pacific Bowl after a loss to Samoa, the Papua New Guinea Rugby Football League (PNGRFL) views Norris's continued leadership as vital for the advancement of women's rugby league in the country.

Norris's preparations for the Pacific Championships and the 2026 Rugby League World Cup will begin promptly, with fixtures scheduled against the Australian Defence Force in Port Moresby on June 15 and the Brisbane Broncos on June 22.

PNGRFL CEO Stanley Hondina expressed that Norris's appointment is part of a "bold, long-term strategy" aimed at fostering consistency and development within the team, emphasizing the importance of "building a world-class team" requires time, trust, and vision.
