'Hell of a moment for Nigeria': African nation in RLWC26 play-off
Nigeria's head coach Bolu Fagborun expressed his excitement after watching his team clinch a 10-0 victory over Ireland, securing a position in the finals of the IRL Women's World Series and a chance to compete in the upcoming World Cup in Australia and Papua New Guinea.
Following their win, the Green Falcons now prepare to face Fiji, who dominated Canada with a 48-0 victory in the other semi-final. The upcoming match will determine the final participant for the women's RLWC2026.
The Green Falcons were up 4-0 at halftime, thanks to prop Fedelia Omoghan, who scored in the 14th minute. Second-rower Rachel Iliya solidified the victory by picking up a loose ball and sprinting 80 meters to score just 11 minutes before the game concluded.
