The website sharks.com.au is reporting that Nicho Hynes has been awarded the inaugural Paul Green Medal in honor of the former Sharks player and Cowboys NRL premiership winning coach.
Hynes received the Medal from Green's wife and children for his outstanding performance in the Sharks' victory over North Queensland in round 9.
A new Paul Green Medal, featuring Green's likeness, will be presented to another player before the Sharks-Cowboys game on Thursday in Townsville.
This award recognizes Green's contributions to both clubs.
The winning coach will name the team's best player, who will then be presented with the Paul Green Medal.
Green, who played 95 games for the Sharks and later became a premiership winning coach at the Cowboys, tragically passed away last year at the age of 49.
