Nicho Hynes, the Cronulla Sharks dynamo, has opened up about his brutal State of Origin debut, revealing that he simply wasn't prepared for the intense pressure of the representative arena.

In a candid interview on Triple M's The Rush Hour, Hynes confessed, "I wasn't quite ready to step up to the plate for another rep jersey just yet." It wasn't until he donned the green and gold of Australia at the end of the season that he was able to shake off the disappointment of his short-lived Origin appearance.

Reflecting on his Australian debut as a shining moment in his career, Hynes acknowledged the importance of that experience in helping him move past his Blues debut debacle.

Last year, Hynes was thrown into the cauldron of State of Origin, coming off the bench for a mere 12 minutes in Game I.

Placed in the unfamiliar role of centre, the Maroons targeted him with relentless attacks, turning the match into a baptism of fire for the young player.

The seasoned commentator, former player, and now Triple M host, Gus, along with his co-hosts Jude and Wendell, shared their insights, analysis and banter on their Hero, Highlight & Hardship podcast.

They summarized Hynes' current situation and discussed his chances of redemption in future matches.
