Nicho Hynes could potentially find himself in a tough situation as Kangaroos coach Mal Meninga faces a selection dilemma ahead of the Pacific Championship final against New Zealand.

The Kangaroos had previously emerged as winners with a score of 36-18 against the Kiwis in their last encounter.

Hynes, who made his debut for the Kangaroos, played a crucial role off the bench for 25 minutes in a utility position.

Meninga had chosen to rest starting forwards Payne Haas and Tino Fa'asuamaleaui, creating an opportunity for Hynes in the 17.
Hynes had initially been overlooked for the Kangaroos' opening match against Samoa but showcased his versatility and value against New Zealand.

He started in the middle as a roving utility before moving into the halves when Cameron Munster was substituted.

There was even a possibility that Hynes could have played as a fullback if James Tedesco had sustained a more serious injury.

Rugby League expert Michael Ennis believes that Hynes did enough in his performance to secure his spot in the final against the Kiwis.

Ennis praised Hynes' versatility, highlighting his ability to play multiple positions such as five-eighth, halfback, and even dummy half.
Ennis also emphasized the importance of Hynes' versatility in big games, particularly with regards to Head Injury Assessments (HIAs), stating that having a player with such versatility is a luxury.

As the Kangaroos prepare for their upcoming clash against New Zealand, Meninga will need to carefully consider his options and the impact that Hynes can make on the game.
