After being dropped from the Blues squad by Brad Fittler, Nicho Hynes has bounced back and earned a call-up to the Kangaroos.
This turn of events comes as a result of Panthers halfback Nathan Cleary's injury, which saw him unable to play for the Kangaroos.
Cleary's exceptional performance in the grand final had secured him a spot in the Kangaroos alongside Daly Cherry-Evans, but unfortunately, his injury prevented him from taking the field.
As a result, Hynes has been brought into the squad, and it is likely that Cherry-Evans will now be the first-choice halfback.
Hynes' selection for the Kangaroos has surprised many, considering he was not even chosen as the replacement halfback for Cleary in State of Origin.
However, Fittler, who recently stepped down as Blues coach, had selected Hynes for his first Origin appearance in Game I.
In that game, Hynes played as a utility and only had a few minutes on the field as a centre.
Despite Cleary's injury leading many to believe that Hynes would be the direct replacement, Fittler dropped him from the squad for Game II and instead went with Mitchell Moses.
Hynes' journey from being dropped by Fittler to earning a call-up to the Kangaroos is a testament to his resilience and talent.
It is a remarkable turnaround for the Sharks playmaker, who has proven himself on the field and seized the opportunity to showcase his skills at the highest level.
