The Newtown Jets have clinched their ninth NSW Cup Premiership victory in a hard-fought battle against the North Sydney Bears, fellow foundation club from way back in 1908.

The game at CommBank Stadium was a real nail-biter, with scores level four times and both teams giving it their all till the very end.

In a moment of true grit and determination, Jets and Cronulla-Sharks player Braden Hamlin-Uele seized the opportunity and scored a crucial try, thanks to a stellar play by his No.7 Niwhai Puru, who was named Player of the Match.

The crowd of 10,385 went wild as the Jets took the lead and never looked back.

It has been a while since the Jets last tasted victory in the NSW Cup, with their previous win back in 2019.

The Bears, on the other hand, have been waiting even longer for their ninth title, having last won in 1993.

But on this day, it was the Jets who reigned supreme, proving that they have what it takes to come out on top in the toughest of competitions.
