Dominic Young scored 20 tries in 22 matches for the Roosters in 2024, as they finished third and reached the preliminary finals.
He returned to Newcastle in 2025 after losing his place in Sydney's NRL side and receiving permission to explore other options.
The switch came about 18 months into a four-year deal, after Young's 2023 season with Newcastle, where he scored 25 tries.
The Knights exited the finals in week two after a 10-match winning streak.
"I didn't really want to leave (Newcastle) in the first place, to be honest with you, but certain things led me to that," Young told NewsWire.
He said the Roosters experience taught him a lot, provided finals experience and left him with no regrets.
"I was excited to come back and I'm happy that I'm here now and I've committed long-term, but I don't have any bad blood or anything like that."
