Tyson Frizell has represented New South Wales in 16 State of Origin games and Australia in 14 Tests.
The Newcastle Knights confirmed he played his 129th and final match for the club in their 19-18 NRL Grand Final loss to the Roosters.
A free agent since November 1 last year, Frizell made 25 appearances during Newcastle's 2026 rise from wooden spooners to grand finalists.
His playing future in 2027 will be elsewhere, with the Knights' emerging young forwards and the arrival of Marata Niukore from the Warriors leaving limited places in the pack.
After Sunday night's defeat, Frizell and his wife Samantha both posted on social media, suggesting he was leaving at season's end.
"Thank you for everything Newcastle," Frizell wrote on Instagram on Monday.
The 34-year-old spent six years with Newcastle after playing 165 games across eight seasons with the Dragons.
He made his NRL debut with the Sharks in 2011.
The Wests Tigers are currently favoured to sign Frizell, who could reunite with former Knights teammate Kai Pearce-Paul.
