Perth Bears have opened applications for a chief executive, giving prospective candidates ten days to apply.
The vacancy follows Anthony De Ceglie's resignation last week.
The Daily Telegraph reports Newcastle Knights chief executive Peter Parr could be a surprise contender for the post.
Bears general manager of football Gareth Holmes is the early favourite for the position.
Parr's possible candidacy comes as questions arise over whether the Knights will lose more football department staff.
Newcastle has enjoyed a largely successful few months after its fairytale run to the Grand Final.
But the Broncos officially announced this week that they had poached Knights head of recruitment Peter O'Sullivan.
