The race for the Woman of Steel title in the Betfred Women's Super League is heating up with the shortlist now announced.

Faye Gaskin, Georgie Hetherington, and Lucy Murray are the three nominees vying for the prestigious award, guaranteeing a new winner in 2024.

These three players, who have never claimed the coveted title before, will battle it out at the Royal Armouries in Leeds on October 8.

The winner will be crowned on Awards Night, just two days after the Women's Super League Grand Final, which will be broadcast live on Sky Sports.

Faye Gaskin, the St Helens scrum-half, showed her prowess by opening the scoring in the Challenge Cup Final at Wembley Stadium earlier this season.

Overcoming a serious knee injury that kept her sidelined for two years, Gaskin has been in top form throughout the season.

Georgie Hetherington, known as the woman for all positions at York Valkyries, and Lucy Murray, a dynamic second rower for Leeds Rhinos, have also had outstanding seasons, earning their spots on the shortlist.

The Woman of Steel voting panel, comprising of women's rugby league experts and key figures in the sport, will have the tough task of selecting the winner.

With experienced voices like Tanya Arnold, Jenna Brooks, and England Women's head coach Stuart Barrow, the decision is sure to be a tough one.

Stay tuned to Sky Sports for the conclusion of the Betfred Super League season and the thrilling Betfred Women's Super League Grand Final to see who will come out on top in this year's Woman of Steel race.

It's set to be a showdown for the ages!
