New Home for PNG Chiefs Rugby Franchise

In the humid expanse of Port Moresby, a significant evolution in rugby league is unfolding, rooted not in plays or strategies, but in foundational developments and future aspirations.

The Australian Rugby League Commission has revealed that the Airways Resort, managed by the Constantinou Group, will function as the official base for the PNG Chiefs franchise.

This goes beyond a mere hotel arrangement; it marks the inception of a thoughtfully designed village at the Airways site, aimed at fostering a true sense of belonging for the Chiefs' players, staff, and their families in the capital of Papua New Guinea.

Sixty-seven fully-furnished units will be built from scratch, accommodating both the demands of professional sports and family life seamlessly.

Just outside their doors, residents will have the privilege of access to Loloata Island Resort alongside various amenities at Airways, featuring pools, a gym, cafes, medical services, a bar, and even a barber.

The everyday experience of life in this community is designed to feel less like a temporary assignment.

By intention, it will embody a sense of community.

ARLC Chairman Peter V'landys AM clearly articulated the high standards being established.

"This partnership will see PNG Chiefs players and staff housed in brand new, family-friendly accommodation. The Airways facility will not only deliver the team a world-class high-performance environment, but also a community feel which will be unique to professional Rugby League," V'landys stated.
