New contenders emerge for Garner's fleeting future

Penrith Panthers back-rower Luke Garner is attracting interest from yet another NRL team, as speculation grows that he might not complete his contract with the Panthers.

Garner, who can play in both the back-row and centres, has struggled to secure a consistent position in Penrith's first-grade lineup since joining the club at the beginning of 2023 after five years with the Wests Tigers.

During his tenure at Penrith, he has played just 43 matches, with 14 appearances in 2025, largely due to injury setbacks.

Despite currently being under contract until the end of 2026, he has received permission to negotiate with rival teams ahead of November 1 and is reportedly close to signing elsewhere.

Previously linked to the Parramatta Eels and St George Illawarra Dragons, recent reports indicate that another club has now entered the competition for Garner's services.
