Payne Haas, the NSW enforcer, is undergoing injections to manage a persistent back issue but is confident it won't hinder his performance in the upcoming third and deciding State of Origin clash in Sydney.
Reports indicate that Haas was one of several Blues players who either watched or took part minimally in the first training session at the Blue Mountains base on Wednesday, with others like Hudson Young (groin) and Brian To'o (knee) also managing injuries.
Key playmakers Nathan Cleary and Jarome Luai participated in light drills as they prepare for the match, while Haas is adhering to a plan aimed at ensuring his readiness to play.
"I didn't do much today, I had a bit of a needle and am just resting up for the game," Haas stated during a media session.
He added, "I think I'm just being soft.
I'll do a bit more tomorrow, all good." He acknowledged the ongoing nature of his back problem throughout the year, noting that staff from Brisbane advised him to receive an injection prior to joining the camp so that he would be in optimal condition for the game.
