Sydney Roosters winger Mark Nawaqanitawase has put contract negotiations on hold until the end of the season, as speculation grows regarding a potential return to rugby union in light of the upcoming 2027 Rugby World Cup, which will be hosted in Australia.

According to zerotackle.com, Nawaqanitawase transitioned from a Rugby Australia contract after representing the nation at the 2024 Paris Olympic Games, and has since established himself as a key player for Trent Robinson's Roosters side.

Versatile as both a centre and wing, he has become an essential part of the team.

The Roosters are eager to extend his contract, which is set to expire at the end of 2026.

However, their primary concern is not competition from other rugby league clubs but the risk of losing him to rugby union.
