Nathan Cayless to Coach Hull KR in 2027

Ex-NRL player Nathan Cayless is poised to take up the head coaching position at Hull KR for the 2027 season.

The 48-year-old is set to replace Willie Peters, who will leave England at the end of this year to concentrate on the debut of the PNG Chiefs in the NRL.

Having managed Parramatta Eels' NSW Cup team since late 2022, Cayless is expected to finalize a three-year deal with the Robins, according to reports from Love Rugby League.

A former Eels star, Cayless led the New Zealand Kiwis to a World Cup win in 2008 and accumulated 39 tests in the national team.

Throughout his career with the blue and gold, he amassed 259 NRL games exclusively for the Eels and made history as the youngest captain at just 21.

Under his captaincy, the Eels narrowly missed the 2009 NRL title, just a year prior to his retirement.

Cayless brings with him experience from four assistant coaching positions since ending his playing days and is prepared to transition to a first-grade role.

He was considered for the Manly Sea Eagles' head coach position before Kieran Foran was selected for the long-term role.

In his new venture, Cayless will collaborate with Peta Hiku, a former Kiwi player who has worked closely with him during Test camps.
