Cameron Munster, the Melbourne Storm playmaker, has been out of action with a groin injury that left him unable to do basic tasks a few weeks back.

But now, he's on the verge of making a comeback that could see him back on the field by round 21.

Despite the Storm maintaining their top spot on the NRL ladder in Munster's absence, winning five out of six games he missed, the team is eager to have their star player back in action.

Munster, who will need surgery at the end of the season to fix a hip imbalance, is currently training at full throttle and just waiting for the green light from the medical team.

"It's been a frustrating journey, but I'm slowly but surely getting back to full fitness," Munster said.

"I've been doing everything I can with the boys, training hard and pushing myself.

Once I get that clearance, I'll be ready to go, hopefully in the next couple of weeks."

The Storm had hoped to have Munster back for their upcoming game against the Sydney Roosters, but it seems he'll have to wait a little longer before he can pull on the jersey again.

Nevertheless, the team and fans alike are eagerly anticipating his return to the field, where he'll no doubt make a big impact with his skills and leadership.
