Munster's Future Uncertain Amid Contract Talks

Cameron Munster has recently distanced himself from speculation regarding a move to the Perth Bears, but he may soon find himself back in the spotlight.

This time, his contract status is more significant.

The previous rumors about joining the Bears in 2026 were uncertain, requiring Munster to secure a release from the Storm. However, the scenario changes if the PNG Chiefs express interest.

With his contract expiring at the end of 2027, Munster is a prime target for the Chiefs, who are set to enter the league in 2028 under head coach Willie Peters.

The Chiefs can offer lucrative, tax-free incentives that could outshine any rival offers. Should Munster decide to pursue a substantial payday as he nears the end of his career, the Chiefs may present an appealing option.

The Chiefs have conveyed their intention to pursue him, and it has come to light that there's a connection to Peters through Munster's manager, Braith Anasta.

It's clear that the Storm desires to keep Munster, and discussions regarding his new contract are expected to commence soon. With November 1 approaching in just six months, if he isn't secured by then, he could be available to other teams.

Journalist Brent Read highlighted this connection during a segment on Triple M Radio.

"Braith Anasta manages Willie Peters. Braith Anasta manages Cameron Munster. Cameron Munster comes off-contract at Melbourne at the end of 2027, which coincides with PNG," Read stated on Triple M's Sunday Sin Bin.
