Cameron Munster has been named the new captain of the Queensland Maroons for Game II, as confirmed by head coach Billy Slater.

Following a training session at Twin Waters, Slater informed the players of Munster's appointment, marking a significant transition in leadership.

Munster replaces Daly Cherry-Evans, who previously led the Maroons to Origin series victories in 2020 and 2022-23 during his illustrious representative career.

This upcoming match in Perth is particularly important for Munster, as he will also be celebrating his 20th Origin appearance.

In addition to this announcement, the Maroons will be in Gympie today for the Queensland Maroons Westpac Fan Day.
