Munster Commits to Storm Amid Pezet News

Cameron Munster has announced his commitment to the Melbourne Storm, stating he does not plan to leave the team before his contract expires, despite recent news regarding Jonah Pezet's departure.

This development is a significant setback for the Perth Bears as they prepare to join the NRL in 2027. Discussions regarding a potential release for Munster to join the Bears had been anticipated, which would have allowed Pezet to take on a regular first-grade role at Melbourne while providing Munster a lucrative opportunity in Perth.

However, those plans have changed with reports emerging that Pezet has signed with the Parramatta Eels for the 2026 season and will subsequently transition to the Brisbane Broncos in 2027 in a surprising shift.

Although the announcements from both clubs are not yet official, they are believed to be impending. Journalist Michael Chammas shared on Triple M Radio that he has been in discussion with Ryles, indicating that the transition for Pezet is nearing completion. He noted that Parramatta aims to utilize Pezet for one season before facilitating his move to ensure other young talents have a clear path.

The implications for Joash Papalii in 2026, who filled in for Dylan Brown at five-eighth during the latter half of the 2025 season, remain uncertain.

In light of these developments, Munster has consistently shown his desire to continue with the Storm, and the club supports him in fulfilling his contract, although they were willing to listen if he pursued talks with the Perth Bears.
