Moses sidelined, will Round 1 absence linger?

Mitchell Moses will miss Round 1 of the NRL season for the Parramatta Eels due to ongoing soreness from a previous injury.

The star halfback, who missed the second half of the 2024 season with an injury sustained during State of Origin, suffered another foot injury during the pre-season challenge.

As a result, the Eels have taken a cautious approach and left him out of the opening game against the Melbourne Storm.

Eels head coach Jason Ryles explained the decision, stating, "Mitch is experiencing soreness from a previous injury, we're taking a cautious approach to ensure his foot heals properly and he can play his best football for the team." Ryles also mentioned that they will continue to monitor Moses' recovery and assess his return date next week.

This news comes as a blow to the club, especially considering that Moses had recently re-signed with Parramatta until 2029 and was named the new club captain, replacing Clint Gutherson.

The absence of Moses adds another challenge for the Eels as they face the Melbourne Storm, a team known for their strong performances in season openers.

Despite this setback, the Eels remain determined to put in a competitive performance.

With Moses out of the lineup, the team will need to rely on other key players to step up and deliver in his absence.

Overall, the Eels are prioritizing Moses' long-term health and ensuring that he fully recovers from his injuries before returning to the field.

While his absence in Round 1 is disappointing, the team is hopeful that he will be back in action soon to contribute to their upcoming games.
