Mitch Moses is gearing up for another wild ride in the upcoming season after a rollercoaster of a year in 2024 that saw him experience highs and lows that could rival a nail-biting grand final match.
The Eels halfback expressed his sadness at seeing Clint Gutherson bid farewell to the club, as the former captain heads to the Dragons in 2025.
Gutherson, who gave his all at fullback for Parramatta, will now bring his talents to the Red V, following a bittersweet end to his time with the blue and gold.
"It's really tough.
He's one of my best mates and it's sad to see how it all unfolded.
It's just the nature of the game," Moses shared after a victorious match against Tonga in the Pacific Cup final.
"You never want to see a player like him go, but that's footy for you.
I'll miss the time on the field together.
We've been through it all at Parramatta for the last eight years.
It's definitely going to be different without him at training, but I'm truly happy for him.
"He's scored a ripper of a deal up there and I have no doubt he'll shine for the Dragons.
He's a top bloke and one of my greatest mates.
I'll miss him out on the field, but I wish him all the best as he moves forward."
As the Eels prepare to forge a new path under coach Jason Ryles, the departure of Gutherson marks the end of an era for the club.
However, Moses remains optimistic and ready to tackle whatever challenges come their way in the upcoming season, knowing that the game of rugby league is as unpredictable as ever.
