Moses' calf strains Blues' hopes; Luai steps in

LeagueNews.co | Jason Patrick

Mitchell Moses has officially been ruled out of the third State of Origin clash due to a severe calf injury\.

Scans confirmed that the injury would keep him sidelined for up to six weeks, impacting both the Blues and his club, Parramatta Eels\.

Reports indicate that Jarome Luai was brought into the NSW camp after the injury news broke, marking a significant setback for the team\.

Moses' absence means he will not participate in the crucial match against the Maroons next Wednesday, and he may not return to the NRL until as late as round 21\.

This is particularly challenging for the Eels, who are looking to improve their position on the ladder in the first season under new coach Jason Ryles\.

Last year, Moses faced another setback when a bicep injury cut short his 2024 season during the third Origin clash, resulting in him playing only eight games\.

In response to Moses' injury, NSW coach Laurie Daley expressed confidence in Luai's ability to step up, stating that the late change wouldn't pose a significant challenge for the team.
