Clint Gutherson has officially thrown his hat into the ring with a three-year, $2.5 million deal at the Dragons.
The veteran fullback, known for his tenacity on the field and leadership off it, has been pushed to make the move down to Wollongong with his family in tow.
After the Eels informed Gutherson that his role would be changing to a utility position in 2025, the gritty captain decided to test the waters elsewhere.
It was a bittersweet goodbye as the Eels bid farewell to a player who has given his all for the team.
"We would have loved to see Clint stay with us, but we understand his need for a new challenge," said Eels coach Jason Ryles.
Gutherson himself expressed his eagerness to tackle the new chapter with the Dragons and embrace the rich history of the club.
"I can't wait to don the famous jersey and be a part of the legacy that this club holds," Gutherson said.
"I believe I can bring a lot to the table as we strive for success in the coming years.
I'm ready to hit the ground running and face whatever challenges come the way."
It seems Gutherson is ready to take on this new adventure with all the heart and determination he brings to every game on the field.
Time will tell how he will fare in this new environment, but one thing's for sure - he's not one to back down from a challenge.
