Milking Controversy Blames NRL Before Finals

As the 2025 NRL Finals series approaches in just three weeks, the focus has shifted predominantly to the issue of "milking."

For those unfamiliar, "milking" refers to the act of a player feigning injury or staying down longer than necessary to prompt a review from the Bunker for a potential penalty.

The term carries negative connotations, as no player wants to be branded as someone who stays down, which contradicts the tough image they work hard to maintain throughout their careers.

However, two of the league's most prominent players recently exhibited behavior that some might consider "milking" during a game last weekend. Both were awarded penalties for their actions, with one decision notably affecting the game's outcome.

A notable incident occurred this past Thursday night when Harry Grant took advantage of minimal contact from Moses Leota, who was penalized for blocking.

In truth, Grant's fall had little impact on the correct decision; Leota was indeed guilty of conducting a blocking maneuver for Nathan Cleary, warranting a penalty regardless of Grant's theatrics.
