Jahrome Hughes' recent decision to re-sign with the Storm might have a positive ripple effect on the rest of the club's star players, particularly the spine. Captain Harry Grant has confirmed that discussions have begun regarding extending his contract beyond 2026.

Last week, the club secured the reigning Dally M Medal winner on a long-term deal, shifting the focus to Grant, Ryan Papenhuyzen, and Cameron Munster-key players pivotal to the team's success.

Grant remarked, "I think it definitely does (affect my decision) knowing that you've got your halfback and a guy that I've got a really good relationship with on and off the field. He takes control of the team, leads the team around the park well and you know he's going to perform week in, week out."

He added, "If you have this within your club, it's pretty infectious and that's what you want to be as a footy team - a footy team that wants to raise the bar and keep getting better."

Although Grant's contract extends until the end of 2026, he will be eligible to negotiate with other teams starting November 1 if a new deal is not reached by then. However, he is not currently preoccupied with contract negotiations, as he is set to play his 100th game for the club in an upcoming match against the Broncos. The Storm is eager to retain one of the best dummy-halves in the game.
