Luke Metcalf is stepping up to fill the shoes of Shaun Johnson and Stacey Jones as the Warriors' long-term No.7, with both legends mentoring him along the way.

Stacey Jones, who is on the Warriors coaching staff, is working closely with Metcalf on his kicking game, while Johnson provides regular feedback and advice.

Metcalf has been thriving on the challenge, leading the Warriors to consecutive wins before their recent bye.

"Stacey's been awesome," Metcalf said of Jones, highlighting the support he has received from the former halfback greats.

With their guidance, Metcalf is gaining confidence to lead the side as a dominant playmaker, taking over the chief playmaking duties since Johnson's retirement at the end of last season.

"It's great having them there to help me improve and grow as a player," Metcalf added, grateful for the opportunity to learn from such influential figures in Warriors history.

The young halfback will face Jahrome Hughes, the 2024 Dally M Medallist, when the Warriors take on the Storm in Melbourne next Sunday.

However, Metcalf is not facing this challenge alone, as he has the support of Jones and Johnson, who are both instrumental in his development.

With their guidance and mentorship, Metcalf is confident in taking on the role of leading the Warriors' attack on the field.

Metcalf's growth and progress as a playmaker have been evident in the Warriors' recent victories over the Sea Eagles, Roosters, and Wests Tigers.

With Jones and Johnson by his side, Metcalf is well on his way to becoming a key player for the Warriors and making his mark as a long-term No.7 for the team.

As he continues to learn and develop under the mentorship of these Kiwi halfback greats, Metcalf is poised to have a successful future with the Warriors.
