Melbourne Storm's Grant eyes free agency

Kamikamica Signs with Melbourne Storm for 2026

Harry Grant has excluded the Perth Bears from his potential destinations, according to Code Sports, to give friend and former teammate Tyran Wishart room to flourish.

Wishart has signed a multi-year deal with the Bears and is expected to start next season as their No. 9.

Grant's decision comes as reports say he plans to activate a contract clause before November 1, effectively making him a free agent.

Although he is contracted to Melbourne through the end of 2028, the clause could place the hooker on the open market.

He could join Sam Walker, Latrell Mitchell and possibly Nathan Cleary among players available to other clubs.

Melbourne believes it can secure an extension and keep its captain long-term, but well-funded rivals are expected to pursue Grant.

The Storm are also facing uncertainty after missing the finals for the first time in 16 years following a disappointing season.

Cam Munster will test his value in free agency, while coach Craig Bellamy's future at the club remains uncertain.
