Melbourne Storm face 2028 contract questions

Jahrome Hughes speaks out about Titans links amid major call on Melbourne Storm's spine

Craig Bellamy is expected to coach Melbourne for the final time next season before retiring, ending an era of more than two decades.

The Storm have yet to clarify who will lead them in 2028, Cameron Munster recently suggested.

Munster has reportedly received a low offer from the club, adding to uncertainty as Melbourne faces a major contract period.

The club's challenges follow its poorest season in 20 years and its first failure to reach the finals under Bellamy.

As the November 1 contract window approaches, Melbourne has 16 players secured for 2028, including Jahrome Hughes, Sua Fa'alogo, Bronson Xerri and Trent Loiero.

However, several key players are off contract, including Xavier Coates, Harry Grant, Munster and Stefano Utoikamanu.

Grant has a player option, and the Storm can ill afford to lose the four headline names.

The club's projected 2028 lineup also has five unfilled positions: two in the starting side and three on the interchange.
