Castleford Tigers have parted ways with head coach Danny McGuire after just nine months in charge.
McGuire, a Leeds Rhinos legend, was appointed as the Tigers' head coach for the 2025 season but only managed to lead the team in 17 matches, securing four victories.
This marked his first full-time head coaching role, following a brief interim period at Hull KR in 2022 before he resumed an assistant position.
The decision to dismiss McGuire came after a board meeting on Monday.
In his absence, head of rugby Chris Chester will assume coaching duties on an interim basis.
Chairman Martin Jepson expressed disappointment, stating, "It has been a challenging season, but in particular, the result and performance in last week's game against Huddersfield were hugely disappointing for me and everybody involved with the club."
