Tate McDermott has expressed disinterest in discussing Rugby Australia's potential recruitment of ex-NRL star Zac Lomax, stating that the Wallabies already possess considerable depth in the winger positions.
McDermott, who recently suffered a hamstring tear during the Bledisloe Cup in September, opted out of fitness testing due to his inability to run, raising concerns about his readiness to lead the Reds in the upcoming Super Rugby Pacific season.
"I don't have a target date just yet, but we're really happy with how they're progressing," remarked the 27-year-old.
He added, "With these injuries, it can be anywhere from four to six months, so once I get back running, which will hopefully be at the end of the month, I'll be able to give you a clearer picture."
McDermott is optimistic about his recovery, stating, "At the moment all things are going really positively, and I've had no hiccups."
When questioned about the idea of Lomax joining the Wallabies after the NSW State of Origin representative's departure from Parramatta, McDermott noted that Lomax had connections to the breakaway rugby competition R360, which has since been suspended.
As of now, Lomax has been rumored to be linked with the Brumbies and Western Force, and it appears that the Melbourne Storm has also made an attempt to bring him back to the NRL.
