Terrell May's impressive performance for the Wests Tigers has positioned him as a potential candidate for the NSW State of Origin team.

According to nrl.com.au, May played an intense 84 minutes, covering 228 metres, with three tackle breaks and 74 post-contact metres.

He was also defensively solid, making 42 tackles without any misses, and executed a critical charge down late in the game.

His endurance and skill have made him a strong contender for coach Laurie Daley's plans for the upcoming series.

May will have another opportunity to strengthen his case when the Tigers face St George Illawarra in a Magic Round match at Suncorp Stadium this Saturday night.

His playing style has garnered praise, with Tigers forward Sione Fainu asserting that May's abilities are well-suited for the fast-paced nature of Origin matches.

Dragons prop Toby Couchman, who May will be up against this weekend, averages 60.6 minutes, while Jack Williams has recorded an average of 60 minutes over two games this season.

As May continues to showcase his capabilities, he could be on the cusp of making his Origin debut.
