Max King, a player for the Canterbury Bulldogs, has been feeling unwell recently, and it's not solely due to the team's poor performance leading up to the finals. His discomfort stemmed from a mould infestation in his home, which he has finally managed to eliminate ahead of the important qualifying final against Melbourne.

The 28-year-old front-rower described his experience as akin to battling a persistent flu for six weeks, with the mould also affecting his pregnant wife, Christy, and their son, Hercules.

In addition to preparing for the tough matchup against a determined Melbourne team, King has been busy packing and moving to a new home.

"It was going on for six or seven weeks. I was sick, my missus was sick and my son's been sick," King told AAP. "It was relentless and it wasn't getting any better."

After someone suggested that mould could be the cause of their illnesses, King researched the issue and confirmed his suspicions. He noted, "My symptoms were flu-like, coughing, sweats, going hot and cold, just feeling crook."

The family discovered mould in the tiles, exacerbated by roof leaks from the recent rain in Sydney.
