Awards cap off dream NRL season for Dean Matterson

Manly player Dean Matterson has had an exceptional year, which was highlighted by his NRL debut and winning two end-of-season awards.

The versatile player, who can cover various positions including centre, five-eighth, lock, and second-row, has been a shining light for both Manly and the Blacktown Workers Sea Eagles.

His hard work and determination paid off when he made his NRL debut in round 20 against the Nth Qld Cowboys at 4 Pines Park.

To celebrate his outstanding performances, Matterson received the Ken Arthurson Rising Star award for Rookie of the Year and the Bob Batty Best and Fairest award for being Blacktown's best player in the NSW Cup.

The proud moment was shared with his father, Paul, who accompanied him to the awards night.

Throughout the season, Matterson played seven NRL games for Manly and 17 games in the NSW Cup, including a historic finals appearance for Blacktown.

His versatility and contributions made him an invaluable asset to both teams.
