Forward Ryan Matterson, though contracted to return to the Parramatta Eels in 2026, has expressed his willingness to stay in England. After a period of missing first-grade matches and spending time in reserve grade with the Eels, he was released in mid-July to join the Warrington Wolves for the remainder of the season.
The Parramatta Eels confirmed his contract status for 2026 at that time. "This is an opportunity for Ryan to explore new challenges and broaden his professional experience in the English Super League," noted Eels general manager of football Mark O'Neill.
Matterson recently made his debut for the Wolves after a nine-week injury hiatus, during which he did not play at any level. When asked by the BBC if he would consider remaining in England, he stated he would do "whatever was the right fit for him."
