Matterson Critiques Narrative Around Lomax Trade

Eels' Matterson hits out over Storm's failed Lomax bid

Ryan Matterson of Parramatta has criticized the "public narrative" surrounding Melbourne's interest in Zac Lomax after becoming a pawn in negotiations.

Currently facing concussion-related challenges, Matterson's future in the NRL appears uncertain, and he will miss the season opener against the Storm at AAMI Park.

After Lomax's failed attempt to join rugby union competition R360, the former NSW State of Origin player became entangled in Melbourne's negotiations for him.

If the Storm had taken on Matterson's contract, the Eels would have considered permitting Lomax to join their ranks.

Feeling misrepresented, Matterson announced that he was viewed as an obstacle to the potential transfer and mentioned he had turned down an opportunity to join Melbourne.

In a detailed message on Instagram, Matterson stated he was never officially approached regarding the move to the Storm.

He also revealed he had less than 72 hours to decide his future in the lead-up to Lomax's court case, which concluded on Tuesday.
