Queensland Maroons coach Tahnee Norris is optimistic about the upcoming must-win Origin match on Thursday, particularly about the potential performance of skipper Ali Brigginshaw and other senior leaders following a disappointing first game.

The Maroons faced a strong challenge from the Blues, who dominated in the second half to claim a 1-0 series lead in Brisbane, leaving key Queensland players underwhelmed in their attack.

Brigginshaw, along with teammates Tamika Upton, Tarryn Aiken, and Lauren Brown, has been reflecting on the loss for the past two weeks and is determined to improve.

She stated, "We know we didn't perform, especially the senior girls, so it was on us to make sure we tidied that up and we do have experience, so it's not OK to perform like that in a Queensland jersey." Brigginshaw emphasized the weight of the defeat, saying, "We took that to heart and I don't think we've actually gotten over that loss.

I think we'll use that fire going into Thursday."

As the Maroons look to rebound and keep the series alive, the focus will likely be on how the senior players harness their experience to turn the tide.
