Queensland's captain, Ali Brigginshaw, has declared her retirement from State of Origin football, intending to concentrate on her club commitments.
As the Maroons' most-capped player during the NRLW era, Brigginshaw shared this news on a Friday, emphasizing her focus on her final season with the Brisbane Broncos.
The 36-year-old utility experienced a less-than-stellar 2025 Origin series, which led to her being benched for the third game.
Despite hinting at a continuation after the Maroons' 2-1 series defeat, Brigginshaw has reevaluated her career path.
"After many restless nights over the off-season, I have decided to end my time in the Origin arena and focus all my energy on the Broncos for the upcoming season, which will be my last in rugby league," Brigginshaw stated.
"I can't put into words what playing for Queensland meant to me. Pulling on the Maroon jersey made me feel bulletproof. Historic moments, amazing teams and great mates."
Since the NRLW era started in 2018, Brigginshaw has played every game for the Maroons, having captained the team in 12 of those 13 matches.
