Nathan Lawson, a rugby sevens convert, has shared how his fellow Olympian Mark Nawaqanitawase assisted him in preparing for his NRL debut.
The 26-year-old, who has represented Australia at both the Tokyo and Paris Olympics, had an impressive first game for St George Illawarra, contributing to their 20-6 victory over Newcastle at Jubilee Stadium.
Both Lawson and Nawaqanitawase played for the Australian sevens team during the Paris Olympics before transitioning to the NRL, where Lawson is making his mark.
Nawaqanitawase has been excelling with the Sydney Roosters this season.
In navigating his switch to league, Lawson sought guidance from Nawaqanitawase and Bailey Simonsson, a fellow Newington College alumnus.
