The NRL is set to lose one of its brightest stars after next year, but if his subtle hints are to be believed, his absence from the game may not be for long.
Mark Nawaqanitawase, who will depart the Sydney Roosters to return to rugby union in 12 months, has recently shared insights regarding his future in rugby league and whether he may come back.
In an interview with AAP, the Kangaroos star expressed that a return to league after the 2027 Rugby World Cup is a possibility. "It's so far away, I don't know, but it could be on the cards ... it's definitely on the cards," he stated.
When queried about whether his remarkable debut season, in which he led the NRL in tries scored, influenced his thoughts on returning, he replied, "A hundred per cent." He emphasized his experience at the Roosters, saying, "Especially at the Roosters where I am, it's been amazing. So it's definitely on the cards."
