Expected salary-cap growth after Perth Bears and Papua New Guinea enter the NRL could push Tom Trbojevic's next contract towards $1 million annually.
He is understood to earn about $1.3 million in 2026, before dropping to approximately $900,000 in 2027.
Trbojevic remains contracted to Manly until the end of 2027 but may negotiate with rival clubs from November 1 this year.
The Courier-Mail reports that he is seeking a two-year extension, which would keep the Sea Eagles captain at the club through 2029.
He agreed to his previous extension in October 2025, adding one season to his existing deal. Another commitment would represent confidence in Manly's direction under coach Kieran Foran.
Trbojevic would be 33 at the proposed contract's conclusion, requiring Manly to assess whether his role should change.
He continues to wear the number one jersey when available, but hamstring problems have limited him to 14 appearances during his 12th NRL season and 184th for Manly.
Clayton Faulalo is developing as a fullback option, while Reuben Garrick will leave after next season. Manly could eventually consider moving Trbojevic to the centres to manage his workload.
