Manly Sea Eagles Face Long Road Ahead

Geoff Toovey, the former coach of the Manly Sea Eagles, has commented on the recent firing of Anthony Seibold, suggesting that the club's journey back to success may take a while.

The Northern Beaches club acted quickly, dismissing Seibold following their third consecutive home defeat to kick off the 2026 season.

In the wake of this decision, Manly icon Keiran Foran stepped in as interim head coach, assuming responsibilities the very next morning.

Toovey emphasized that quick victories shouldn't be expected, explaining to Wide World of Sports that revitalizing the team with a new coach could be a multi-year endeavor.

"It's a tough gig and a big call to sack a coach after three games but it will take a couple of seasons to be a real force again," Toovey stated.

Moreover, he pointed out that the Sea Eagles will need to reassess their player lineup to achieve title contender status.

"The roster needs to be looked at and changes have to be made," he noted.

"Then they have to find the right man to take over the coaching job and make the club strong again."

Toovey concluded by expressing sympathy for the loyal fans and everyone connected with the club.
