The Manly Sea Eagles have reportedly presented a new contract offer to an assistant coach in order to retain him for the upcoming 2026 NRL season.
As captain Daly Cherry-Evans prepares to leave at the end of this season, speculations have arisen about head coach Anthony Seibold potentially following him out due to disappointing performances over the past few seasons.
With the likelihood of missing out on the NRL Finals series, Seibold is expected to receive a reprieve and continue as head coach. According to a report from The Daily Telegraph, the club has proposed a 12-month extension for Michael Ennis to remain as an assistant coach.
A former NRL dummy-half and now an analyst for Fox Sports, Ennis had been viewed as a prime candidate to step into the head coaching position.
Thus, the extension serves as an initial indication that Seibold will continue in his current role. The intention to keep the former NRL hooker on board as a specialist coach coincides with statements from Manly Sea Eagles Chairman Scott Penn, who confirmed that Anthony Seibold-contracted until the end of 2027-will stay on as head coach next season.
"Absolutely (he will)," Penn shared with foxsports.com.au.
