Will Hopoate is returning to Manly as its Wellbeing, Careers and Education Manager, News Corp reported.
He left the Northern Beaches after Manly's 2011 Grand Final victory, a breakout year in which he made his NSW debut as a teenager.
He later served a two-year Mormon mission, then returned to the NRL with Parramatta and Canterbury.
Will and his brothers Lehi, Albert and Jamil are sons of 1990s winger John Hopoate and came through Manly pathways; Lehi now plays for Manly, Albert played for Manly and Canberra, and Jamil played for Blacktown.
"It's a special opportunity to come back to Manly, the club which gave me my first opportunity," Will said to News Corp.
"I'm looking forward to working with the players and staff and hopefully playing a small part in the continued success of this great club.
Reports of Hopoate's appointment follow claims Kieran Foran is keen to bring Brett Stewart back to Manly in some capacity.
