Managed Play: Haas' Tear Could Cheer or Jeer

LeagueNews.co | Jason Patrick

New South Wales Blues head coach Laurie Daley has announced that Payne Haas is facing a limited build-up before Game 1 of the 2025 State of Origin series.

Scans have confirmed that he has only a minor tear in his left quad, despite initial concerns following a match against the St George Illawarra Dragons, where Haas was spotted with ice on his leg and limping in the dressing room.

Although the damage is minor and officials are optimistic about his fitness for the upcoming game in 10 days, there is still uncertainty surrounding his readiness.

Haas will collaborate with the medical and coaching staff to determine the timeline for achieving full fitness.

The Blues issued a statement declaring, "NSW Blues prop Payne Haas has been cleared to join the 20-player squad later today for the opening game of the Ampol State of Origin series at Suncorp Stadium on Wednesday 28 May."
