In an impressive debut, Warriors five-eighth Patricia Maliepo made history by scoring the franchise's first try since 2020 during their match against the Roosters at Allianz Stadium.
Maliepo, a 10-cap New Zealand Rugby Union international, previously achieved a similar milestone by scoring the Auckland Blues' first-ever Super Rugby try in 2021.
Despite the Warriors suffering a 30-6 loss to the defending premiers, the team showcased resilience with a lineup that included 10 NRLW debutants.
Among these newcomers, four had recently transitioned from rugby union, including Maliepo, who stood out with her performance.
The 22-year-old not only scored the team's only try but also made significant contributions with 122 run metres, 179 kick metres, and a team-high five tackle breaks.
While the Warriors faced a challenging opponent featuring prominent players such as Jess Sergis, Isabelle Kelly, and Olivia Kernick, Maliepo's inaugural performance provided a silver lining in a tough match.
