Australian outside back Jake Maizen has officially signed a new contract with the Widnes Vikings, securing his place in the second tier of English rugby.
According to zerotackle.com, Maizen, who can play across the back five, began his career with the Central Queensland Capras and Sunshine Coast Falcons.
His performance earned him a spot on the Italian team in the 2022 Rugby League World Cup, where he played in all three matches.
In 2022, Maizen moved to England to join the Halifax Panthers, where he played for two seasons before transferring to Whitehaven in 2024.
During his time there, he scored 12 tries in 20 matches, which caught the attention of Widnes Vikings, a former Super League club.
Maizen has signed a one-and-a-half-year deal that will keep him at Widnes until the end of 2026, effective immediately.
"I'm super excited to have signed until the end of 2026, I can't wait to get over there and hopefully add to what is a really strong squad," Maizen said in a statement about his signing.
