Broncos coach Michael Maguire has made a bold decision to keep young gun Blake Mozer at the club, amidst speculation linking the 20-year-old to the Gold Coast Titans.
With a selection battle brewing for the No.9 role, Maguire is facing a tough call with stars like Billy Walters and Cory Paix vying for the spot.
Paix, who has been a standout performer in the pre-season challenge, looks set to start against the Roosters next Thursday, while Mozer's shoulder injury has set him back and raised questions about his future at the club.
Despite this setback, Maguire is determined to retain the talented youngster and secure the future of the Broncos.
"I'd love to keep him," Maguire expressed to The Courier Mail.
"Blake is great to coach.
He is diligent about wanting to learn the game, a crucial trait for hookers who drive the team on the field."
Although Mozer will miss the start of the season due to his injury, Maguire is confident that the young star will make a strong comeback in 2025.
Under former coach Kevin Walters, Mozer gained valuable experience in the second-string dummy-half role and is expected to feature prominently for the Broncos in the future.
