Michael Maguire, the head coach of the Brisbane Broncos, has stated that he has no interest in the England coaching position.
Reports indicate that the Rugby Football League (RFL) in England is exploring options following a lackluster Ashes series, where Shaun Wane's team suffered a 3-0 defeat against a subpar Kangaroos squad on their home turf.
With the Rugby League World Cup approaching in October and November, just under a year away, there is widespread speculation in English rugby that Wane may be unable to retain his role leading up to the tournament, hosted by Australia and Papua New Guinea.
Maguire's name has surfaced among potential candidates for the position, particularly after he successfully guided the Broncos to a premiership in his first year, succeeding Kevin Walters, who was dismissed at the end of 2024.
However, in an interview with Code Sports, Maguire made it clear that his primary focus remains on the Broncos, dismissing any possibility of assuming the England role. He remarked, "No chance. We have a big season ahead. That's my focus."
He added, "You have to keep your head down and keep working and that is part of what I love doing with my players."
