Western Suburbs Magpies concluded their 2025 NSW Cup season with a significant defeat, losing 50-18 to the Sydney Roosters at Wentworth Park on Sunday afternoon.

The Roosters took an early lead with Hayden Barton, who capitalized on playmaker Toby Rodwell's efforts. Townsend then delivered a remarkable cut-out ball to winger Trey Peni, extending the Roosters' lead to 12-0 within the first seven minutes.

Western Suburbs fought back midway through the first half when Brent Naden's clever kick set up a try for winger Charlie Staines. However, the Roosters quickly regained control with Barton's second try, bringing the halftime score to 16-6 in favor of the Roosters.

After halftime, the Magpies made a strong push, scoring two quick tries. Hope executed a self-grubber to achieve a brilliant solo try, followed by Alex Lobb rising to catch a Kurt Falls bomb, which gave Western Suburbs an 18-16 lead.

Unfortunately for the visitors, that was the last of their success, as the Roosters surged to score six tries in the final 25 minutes. Barton completed his hat-trick, while Makahesi Makatoa added a double. Additionally, Zach Dockar-Clay, Max McCathie, and Tom Rodwell also crossed the line as the Tricolours surged to a dominant finish.
